Mumps
Notes: Went to a bar with a couple members of Papa Roach after their show in Orlando on Tuesday this week.
Foods Eaten: Shrimp, Spring Rolls, Carrot Cake (odd combo resulting in dreams. I'll take it.)
The Dream:
(I recall there being more before this, but my dream memory isn't clear of it...) I was driving in my car, it was relatively late at night - dark out, probably around 11:00 PM. I had been in touch with the drummer of Papa Roach, Tony, and was on the way to his house. Somehow I knew when I got close, slowing down to a crawl as I drove by a few small townhouse/apartment looking complexes. The buildings were all on the left side of the road, one story, four houses per complex. All the buildings were painted white and definitely didn't look well kept.
When I thought I got to the right building, I called Tony to verify. He told me to go one more building down and his would be the first house in the complex. He then said that he wasn't there yet, but was on his way and would be in 15 minutes. He told me I could go ahead in.
I went in and was surprised to find other people already in the house. They didn't seem to mind or care that I'd invited myself in. There were three queen sized beds, only one was unoccupied, so I assumed it to be Tony's and went to put my stuff down there. I spent a few minutes of time paying attention to my phone, mostly trying to pretend I was too occupied to pay attention to the other people. I was relieved when Tony finally got there. He put his stuff down and casually leaned against a wall as I got up to say hi. The moment quickly turned intimate as the hi turned into kissing, although I can't recall who initiated it. Tony pulled away for a second and said, "Sorry, you should know I'm cracked out." The statement caught me a little off guard and I noticed his pupils were massively dilated, but shrugged, trying to play it off cool as I took a step away.
Tony went to go do something else, and I finally turned my attention to the other people in the room. There was a young girl with one of her arms bandaged up. Another woman (unsure whether she was mother or nurse or just some random caregiver) sat on the bed with the girl, looking like she was trying to comfort her. I got close and realized the girl was covered in patches of red rashes. It wasn't chicken pox, so I asked the woman what it was. She replied and said, "Mumps." (In waking world I realize this makes no sense as mumps isn't associated with a rash, but I didn't question it in dreamland.) The girl looked at me with a miserable smile, like she was trying to be kind but also seconds from crying. I empathetically smiled back and reached an arm out to touch/comfort her.
I turned around from the girl and was now leaning/resting my elbows on a kitchen counter. The counter stuck out from the right side of the wall, with the fridge and over across. I noticed a red spot on my left arm and suddenly became concerned. I pulled my hoodie sleeves up to reveal more patchy spots higher up my arm. I assumed I had managed to contract what the girl had. Tony walked into the kitchen area and I said to him, "I have the rash." He had heard but didn't seem to care much, only responding with an, "Okay," as he was rummaging around the kitchen.
Boyfriend's alarm clock went off at 6:30, snapping me straight out of the dream.
